At Kazakhmys, we want to do more than be a leading natural resources producer. We aim to ensure a safe working environment for all our employees and contractors.

Training our staff

One key aspect of this involves giving our people the training and support they need to take responsibility for the safety of themselves and others. For example, our two dedicated training colleges provide operational and safety training for staff. We have also implemented a new internal safety training and qualification programme across the organisation.

We have a policy of zero tolerance to non-compliance with safety rules. In 2010, we performed disciplinary proceedings with 1,087 employees, and dismissed another 107 following violations.

Ensuring the health of our people

We go further than protecting our staff within the workplace. We also strive to improve the health of our employees, contractors, their families and communities.

We operate 56 medical facilities across the Group. Every employee receives medical examinations when hired, then annual checkups to prevent, detect and treat occupational diseases. We also closely monitor employees exposed to health risks.
